Why G10?

• At the top of the list is accurate tolerances.  Precision G10 rings and bulk plates are manufactured to within 1/1000th of an inch accuracy specified by tubing supplied by the two primary high power tubing sources.  It has the precise "drag fit" you want when you glue the motor assembly into the airframe.  You'll see no cracks of light leaking through on a dry fit, but it will not need to use excessive force to push the ring into place.  These tight tolerances ensure that the motor is perfectly centered within the airframe.
• G10 centering rings have been a specialty item in rocketry because the expense outweighed the benefit...that is until now.  Due to Precision G10's manufacturing capabilities, there is no significant pricing differential between Precision G10 rings and bulk plates and plywood rings and bulk plates.
• Ease of preparation.  Precision G10's manufacturing process "pre-preps" the edge of the centering ring with the proper texture into which the glue can bite and properly bond.  The only preparation needed is to lightly rough up the sides for proper bonding of fillets.
• With Precision G10 centering rings the size never changes.  With plywood rings, heat and humidity cause expansion and swelling--increasing fit problems.  The G10 material always stays uniform regardless of changes in ambient temperature and humidity.
• Precision G10 rings are stronger structurally.  Since all of the forces of acceleration are focused on the centering rings, it is important to utilize the strongest component.  Precision G10 rings are strong and will probably outlast your rocket!
• They are non-porous and look great when painted.
• Since G10 is gas impermeable and because we hold such tight tolerances, a good gas seal is easily achieved by using Precision G10 bulkplates.  No air (or ejection gas leakage) means better electronics bays for barometric based devices and structural and flame protection from catastrophic failures and motor blow bys.
